Materials Coordinator

Well I got a lot of comments asking what exactly will Ryan be going so here are the details of his new job. He will be the Materials Co-ordiantor for a company called Aero-Inventory. It is over by the airport so we are getting a second car on Tuesday. It is a total Mommy car but it is newer and it will run smoother. It is a 2006 Ford Focus Wagon. Ryan also got called as YM President today. Life is never dull at our house.
After enduring five days without running water I can truly say I am grateful for all the conviences that a modern home has. I used to dream of being a pioneer because I thought it would be so adventurous not anymore. However we were able to utilize our home water supply from our food storage and it really made me grateful that we were obedient to the counsel to keep a small food and water supply. A water main brake on our street caused them to turn off the main supply and when it got turned back on our houses pipes were frozen. Luckily it was on the city side so we didn't have to pay for it. Another blessing.
The snow is all starting to melt and yesterday Abby and I headed off to St. Vital Park and although we came home soaking wet it was so much fun to be outside.

How can you not smile?

I finally found our computer cable and have some new pics. How can you not love this girl?

We have been stuck in the house again for awhile due to some extreme cold weather. It makes for creative times. Yesterday Ryan created a slide with a mattress and Abby is in heaven. Oh I can't wait for spring!! Until then we are having fun in the snow when we can get outside without freezing. Abby loves building snowmen.
On a side note baby number 2 is going to be a boxer I am sure of it. The amount of moving and kicking this kid is doing is insane compared to how Abby was. Hopefully we can come to a happy medium soon or else there will be one tired Momma on everyone's hands.

A Day in the Life

It has been some time since I last posted. I keep using the excuse I can't find the camera cord to download pictures so why post when I don't have pictures then I decided this is a silly reason.
I thought this was fun on someone's blog so I am copying it.

A Day in my Life
8am-Abby wakes me up by talking to her penguin "Puffy". She doesn't really talk yet we are still working on this. It is slightly baffling as she loves to read and is constantly reading her books but time will tell. I am sure one day the sentences will just pour out.
8:10-Off to breakfast. Abby loves oatmeal what a trooper. We had oatmeal every morning growing up and I can honestly say I do not miss it. I love my Mom for making me such a healthy breakfast every day.
8:30-Honestly I had a pounding headache and Ryan was still in bed since he didn't work until 10. I turned on Sesame Street and hit the pillow. Feel slightly guilty but after my 20 minute nap I felt a whole lot better.
8:50- Started getting Abby ready for the day. Today was a good day lately this has been a fight with her not wanting to get dressed but wanting to run around in her beautiful skin. Put on the Dora panties. Here's hoping for a good potty day.
9-10- Ryan left for work. Got ready for the day. Read a few books. Lately Abby's favorite is The Giving Tree by Silverstein. Really good book with a lot of good meaning.
10-11 Headed outside for a walk. Yeah it is finally nice enough to head out for a walk. Abby loves pushing the trailer instead of riding in it and falls often on the ice but still loves being outside. I discovered those nursery teachers are amazing. I started singing the Snowman song and Abby starts doing the actions. Love it. Put up three stickers on the potty chart so far. YEAH for no accidents.
11-2 Went shopping with Grandma. Bought material to make Abby an Easter dress. Appointment with the obs/gyne (everything looks good). Went to natural bakery and bought some bread. SO YUMMY!!! Grocery Shopping and then home.
2-3 Looked at my package that arrived in the mail from Cardston Book Shop. I spoiled myself and Abby with some new books, CD's, and coloring books. So much fun. Got a phone call from Ryan and he is invited for part 3 of an interview process for a great job. YEAH!!! Here's hoping.
3-5Went outside again because Abby loves it and built a snowman. Took the camera to try and catch the huge amazing snowflakes but by the time we all got ready and out it had quit snowing.
5-7 Made a yummy stifry, cleaned up the kitchen, colored with Abby and relaxed.
7-8 Read some more stories, got Abby into bed and packed my bag for work tomorrow.

That pretty much sums up my amazing day. I have been pouring over websites looking for creative ideas for my new calling as Enrichment Leader. Anyone who has any fabulous ideas give me a shout.
All in all I have a pretty great life and just wanted to share some of my exciting moments that happen around here.

Happy Valentine's Day

I can't believe it is the second week of February already. Time sure flies by. Today Abby and I got into the spirit of Valentine's by making the traditional sugar cookies. Have you ever tried to make and decorate cookies with an almost two year old? It is an adventure. Here are some photos of our fun times!
Step 1: Mixing the dough. At this point she wasn't interested in tasting the dough at all.
2. Rolling out the dough. Hmm it is starting to look interesting Mom!!
3. Baking and icing the cookies. This was so much fun. Everytime my back was turned I would catch her eating dough or icing. She was pretty excited about this activity!!

4. The finished product! Anybody want some cookies? Come on over I have had to hide them from a very determined Abby!!
In the spirit of Valentine's I am going to tell you about some of my favorite Valentine's adventures with Ryan. My definite favorite is a tie between our first Valentine's as a couple and our first as a married couple. Our first Valentine's Day we had only been dating a month and I won't even mention the cheesy gifts I bought. However Ryan took me to dinner at a cafe with live instrumental music. It was so funny because I had always wanted to do that but had never told him. I thought he had ESP or something. We went to a dance in which he actually danced with me. This was really big for him and since we have been married have rarely gone to another dance so I appreciated it. On the way home he gave me a CD to sing along to of some of our favorite music. It was pretty cool.
Our second Valentine's we used a gift the girls at work had given me and went away to a cabin for a few days. This is where we first cross country skied. We had a hot tub right inside of our cabin and although it was super duper cold. It was fun times.
This year Ryan is actually off on a Saturday like the first one in forever so I am not sure what our big plans are but just having him home all day will be present enough for me.
Have a great Valentine's Day everyone!!!!

Well last week I entered the 30's of my life. I turned the big 31. He he! It isn't that big to me but people keep asking me how I am handling the 30's. I am of the opinion you are as young as you feel so catch me on a good day and I still feel like I'm 18. My husband treated me awesome. We went out for a yummy steak dinner. What can I say I am an Alberta Beef girl at heart? We went to the mall to wait for our movie and I got a new shirt and two new books. I have to say one of my favorite things is buying a new book. I will let you know if they are any good after I read them. We went to a totally cheesy movie. Mall Cop. Ok no real plot and nothing serious at all but I laughed almost the entire movie and so I think the happy endorphins made it all worthwhile. Abby had a sleepover at Grandma and Grandpa's and gave them a great time. I felt so bad as she woke them up super early and wasn't such a happy camper. What can I say I have amazing family!! The only downside to the evening was Ryan got sick and spent the next day in bed. Not so fun.
Here is Abby's new favorite expression. Don't ask me where she learned this one from.
Today was super fun as I headed off to another doctor's appointment and got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time. Always amazing to think of a person growing inside of you. Next week it is already ultrasound time and I am feeling way better and starting to really enjoy and love being pregnant. Talk to me in a few months when I am way too big and too uncomfortable but right now I am loving it.
Lastly I got tagged by my bud Kristi to write six random things about myself and then tag some people to do the same. So here goes:
1. I have a small case of OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder)and alphabetize all our movies and books. I figure it is okay unless it gets out of control which only happened once when I first lived with roomies. He He poor girls didn't know what to think of me.
2. I love singing in my car and when I am by myself or with Abby I crank up the tunes and belt them out. When I notice other people watching I just wave and keep on singing.
3. When I am playing video games or reading a book I get way too involved and laugh out loud or make a comment out loud without even realizing it. Ryan gets a real kick out of this.
4. I really don't like doing my makeup or hair. In fact I am a total tomboy in that respect. I am pretty sure all those genes got put into my other two sisters.
5. My favorite thinking spot is still on rock hill at my parents farm looking at the mountains and listening to the peace and quiet of nature.
6. If I didn't become a nurse I dreamed of being an elementary music teacher. I thought that would be a dream job working with cute kids and having music around me all day.

There are some random thoughts about me for you to think about. Now I will tag a few of you to do the same.
Romy, Beth, Joelle, Tasha, and Melissa
Have fun!!!
Now what is a post from me without an adorable pic of Abby so here is one of her latest. Wearing her daddy's slippers.

Blessings

This morning I got a call from one of the YW Pres. in our ward asking me to come to YW and talk about the blessings of being a woman and mother. There are so many how can one choose right? Well I have to say lately getting any sort of quality sleep is a big blessing on my list. It seems like whenever I am pregnant I have these really vivid dreams which often wake me up at night and then I lie there trying to go back to sleep. Abby on the other hand is sleeping great and has now become a morning girl waking up between 6 and 7. I dream of the day when I will be able to sleep again I know it is a long time probably years away but I know someday I will return to sleeping through the night!!!
Ok totally old picture from the summer just dreaming of warm days.
Being a woman is totally amazing. I think that we have such a great role to play in the world and in our homes. It is so exciting to see all the different ways woman have progressed yet our most powerful moments still happen in our individual homes and families pretty profound.
Being a Mom is amazing. I can't even tell you how awesome it is. Having a new baby growing inside of you is also pretty amazing. Feeling it move the first time is always my favorite.
Two things happening in our home lately is I bought Abby big girl underwear and we are getting serious about the potty training business. I am looking forward to this challenge because it will give us something to focus on since going outside seems impossible with this weather.
The other thing is we got a Nintendo Wii which is super fun and keeps us having fun together instead of just turning on the tv after Abby has gone to bed.
I decided this year to base all my goals for the year on The Apostles talks from General Conference and have just finished reading all of the talks and am going to put my list together this weekend. I love setting goals and hopefully accomplishing them. Sometimes it is so easy to not set goals and just go throughout our days but I am determined to do it.
Well next time I write I will be 31 I can't even believe I am in my 30's already. Time sure flies when your life is such an adventure!!!
Here is something else I have been thinking of my garden. I always get excited to think about planting and weeding and I am not sure how it will go this year with two kids around but hopefully I will manage. I mean the pioneers did it so I should be able to handle it.
